Easy Contouring for Begginers

Easy Contouring for Begginers

Don’t worry if you’re intimidated by contouring, because there is nothing easy about it—even some make-up artists are intimidated by the makeup trend that’s been sweeping red carpets. You can make some good progress toward learning how to do it though, and the good news is that those steps are easy to take. By mastering a few little things, you’ll be a whiz at the process as a whole. So grab a brush and get ready to play in the light and in the shadows. Remember, it’s just makeup and you can always try again.

Make sure you’re paying attention to your own face. Don’t copy someone else’s contour look. That’s the contouring that brings out the best in their face, you need to bring out what’s best in yours.

First, choose a foundation that matches your skin tone and apply it evenly over your whole face. Your highlights should be about 3 shades lighter (depending on how light your skin is), and the contours will be about 3 darker (again, depending on how dark your skin is).

Start by creating triangles under your eyes, then highlight the center of your chin, the bridge of your nose, and between your brows. Take a moment to see if there’s anything else you’d like to perfect.

Now place the darker shade just outside the bridge of your nose, under your bottom lip, along your hairline, and in the hollows of your cheeks. Then again, take a minute to see if there’s anything you’d like to contour more or further.

Take a Beauty BlenderⓇ or a damp sponge and blend it all together. Trust in the blending process, after all, with all the work you’ve done you don’t want it ruined by a blocky, streaky finish.

Now it’s time for all your patented finishing touches. Whether it’s fake lashes, blushed cheeks, or a hot, bold lip you’ll want to add a pop to all your hard work. Well done!
